Local Accommodations in San Francisco, CA

A good place to stay nearest the Fort Mason center where classes are held is the youth hostel right next door. They have four private rooms running around $70-80/night.

There is also a wonderful place to stay called The Red Victorian Bed&Breakfast in the Haight Ashbury district - this is not as close as the hostel, but has easy public transportation access to everywhere in SF.

Motels & Bed & Breakfast Inns

Heading south and west of Fort Mason Center will take you to “motel row” on Lombard Street where you’ll find Bed & Breakfast Inns and several motels for the more budget-minded traveler. Three blocks away is Union Street, one of the most charming shopping and eating areas in San Francisco.

Edward II Bed & Breakfast           

A real charmer in a super location, Edward II offers a Continental Breakfast. A three-story inn with

Englishcountry motif, luxury carriage house suites and whirlpool baths are what you’ll find offered here.

Marina Inn

A charming English-style country inn, this is your best bet for the money.  Reasonably priced, the Inn has forty rooms, each filled with warmth and romance. Chelsea Motor Inn

Located between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge on San Francisco Bay, Fort Mason Center offers easy access by MUNI and BART.

The entrance to Fort Mason Center is at the intersection of Marina Boulevard and Buchanan Street, in the Marina district. There is no street address; please see our FAQ page for mailing address and other contact information.

The Herbst International Exhibition Hall, located on the Presidio’s Main Post, is just minutes from Fort Mason Center. See below for directions.

By Automobile

East Bay   Bay Bridge to Fremont Street Exit; on Fremont (100 yards north) take first right on Howard; left on Embarcadero and go 2 miles; left on Bay and go 2 miles; right on Buchanan. Cross Marina Boulevard and turn sharp right into Fort Mason Center.

North Bay  Golden Gate Bridge (US 101) to Marina Exit; Marina Boulevard (1.5 miles) to Buchanan and turn left into Fort Mason Center.

Peninsula/South Bay  US 101 North to 9th Street Exit; 9th across Market and left on Hayes; right on Franklin; left on Bay; right on Buchanan. Cross Marina Boulevard and sharp right into Fort Mason Center.

 

Fort Mason Center Parking

Enter at the intersection of Buchanan Street and Marina Boulevard. Make a sharp right into the Center, or a left to park along the Marina Green. For some large events, free parking and shuttle service to the event is provided near the Presidio. Follow the signs along Marina Boulevard.

 

Herbst International Exhibition Hall

The Exhibition Hall is located on the Presidio’s Main Post at the intersection of Moraga and Montgomery Streets—just minutes from Fort Mason Center. It is accessible through the following Presidio Gates: Marina (Marina Boulevard and Lyon Street); Lombard (Lombard and Lyon Streets); Presidio Boulevard (Presidio Boulevard and Pacific Street); or Arguello (Arguello Boulevard and Jackson Street). Park at the Main Post parade ground, just down the hill from the Hall. There is also a free Presidio Shuttle Service that links with MUNI and Golden Gate Transit.
